Concerns are being raised over the dangers being posed on the roads in North Leitrim due to overgrowing hedges.

Councillors have issued warnings that the situation could lead to an increased number of accidents in the local region.

Sinn Fein Councillor, Padraig Fallon is expected to call on the roads department of the local authority to purchase a hedge cutting machine and retain its services in the north of the County.

Cllr Fallon says with the Council already having tractor units at their disposal it would make sense to purchase a hedge cutter:
