Killybegs is said to be a prime location for the development of offshore wind farms in Donegal.

It is said a new energy infrastructure could contribute to substantial job creation and a major economic boost for the county.

However, Wind Energy Ireland stated it would be a challenge to do Offshore generated energy in Donegal, as the current electricity grid is in need of an update. 

Speaking in the Dail Deputy Charles Ward says It's a disgraceful waste when the potential is there, and investment is essential.
