A Sligo-Leitrim Junior Minister has reiterated the importance of apprenticeships in the North West.

It comes as there is said to be a shortage of tradespeople in the region.

ATU's Sligo campus has launched a number of new apprenticeships in subject including civil engineering.

Minister of State for Further and Higher Education Marian Harkin says apprenticeships aren't limited to traditional trades:
