Hundreds of homes are a step closer for Strandhill. 

It's after Sligo County Council was awarded around ten million euro under the Housing Infrastructure Investment Fund.

The funding is set to go towards putting the infrastructure and services in place in Strandhill to facilitate the construction of around 500 houses in the area on zoned land. 

Cathaoirleach of Sligo County Council and Fianna Fail Cllr Donal Gilroy is confident other infrastructure in Strandhill will follow to cope with an expected rise in population:
