It's hoped a new short term letting register will clamp down on illegal Air Bnbs in the North West. 

Under the plans, existing short term lets which haven't been registered will have to secure planning permission to continue trading.

It's claimed that overseas investors have bought up some properties in coastal parts of the region, resulting in a shortage of long term lets. 

Donegal County Councillor Michael Cholm MacGiolla Easbuig thinks the register could combat this practice:
