It's hoped that an increase in taxi licenses will lead to more late-night transport options for people in the North West.

The issuing of more than 1800 new taxi licenses in the last year means that taxi driver numbers are at their highest level in a decade.

However, rural drivers and drivers operating out of smaller towns account for only 15% of drivers surveyed by the NTA.

Donegal Councillor Michael McMahon is hopeful that the influx will allow for more late-night taxi services in South Donegal:
