There are renewed hopes the Sligo Cemetery Gate Lodge could be used as a tourist attraction. 

The building located in old cemetery is in a state of disrepair. 

Some works have already been carried out on the historic building while further projects are also set to take place in the year ahead. 

Mayor of the Sligo Borough and People before Profit Cllr Gino O'Boyle says a lot of famous people are buried in the cemetery it would be an ideal resource hub:
