It's claimed home energy retrofit schemes are not working for Donegal homeowners. 

Grant levels are said to have remained largely static between 2020 and 2025, while construction costs rose by over 30%.

There's concern that this is creating as a widening affordability gap for homeowners while the timeframe for getting the grant can be up to two years of a wait. 

Independent Cllr Jimmy Brogan says efforts must be made to make them more accessible:
