Heavy rain is being blamed for a no swimming advisory at Enniscrone. 

Sligo County Council issued the advisory yesterday following water quality testing. 

The HSE have been also consulted and the notice will remain in place until water quality has been shown to be an acceptable standard.

While the cause has to be officially confirmed, it's thought severe floodwater flowing into the sea from the local river could be the root of the problem. 

Local Fianna Fail Cllr Joe Queenan is confident the measure will only be temporary:
