A Sligo Cllr has accused the Government of being short-sighted over phasing out excise cuts. 

They will stay in place until the 1st of November, at which point prices will increase by 10 cent a litre for diesel and 8 cent for petrol, when the NORA levy is restored.

That had been due to come in on the 1st of September but will be fully restored by February next year.

Cllr Michael Clarke says it's impossible to know what the situation will be like a on a global scale by then and the plan going before Cabinet has not been properly thought out:
