Geodirectory continues to claim that County Sligo has the highest commercial vacancy rate in Ireland.

The latest data indicates that the commercial vacancy rate in the County as of December was 20.8%.

Of the urban areas in Sligo surveyed, Sligo Town had a commercial vacancy rate of 26.4% while Tubbercurry and Inniscrone had a commercial vacancy rate of 22.0% and 21.0% respectively.

County Donegal closely follows Sligo with a commercial vacancy rate of 20.6%

Cathaoirleach of Sligo County Council and Fianna Fail Cllr Donal Gilroy previously blasted the figures released by GeoDirectory and still holds reservations.

He says work is ongoing at a local level to ensure a more accurate picture is painted going forward:
