A Galway Councillor has said the Sligo Greenway shouldn't be discounted while a railway is sought on the route.

It comes as the long-standing debate over the greenway being placed on the old railway between Collooney and Bellaghy continues.

Galway County Council are the latest local authority to call on Sligo County Council to rescind the decision to lease the railway for use as a Greenway.

Independent Ireland Councillor Shaun Cunniffe says the West on Track group is being insular:
