34 million euro will be invested in health technology development in the North West and West of the country.

A new ARC Hub for HealthTech will be launched at the University of Galway today with support from the Atlantic Technological University.

Some of the projects which will be fast-tracked as a result of this investment include advanced sensory detection devices to prevent falls in elderly people.

Professor Garry Duffy is the director of the hub and explains the thinking behind their theme ‘Regional Roots, Global Presence’:
