The former captain of the 1992 Donegal All-Ireland winning team Anthony Molloy has described the late James McHugh as an exceptional person and a loyal team mate.

Mr. McHugh, who was in his early 60s, was in a collision involving a car and a van on the N3 between Virginia and Cavan town yesterday afternoon.

His wife Noreen was also seriously injured in the collision and is receiving treatment at Beaumont Hospital in Dublin.

James McHugh was a member of Donegal's 1992 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship winning team, and won an All Star that year.
