The Fianna Fail selection convention for Sligo/Strandhill is to take place on Tuesday.

Two candidates are to be put forward - former Fianna Fail Cllr Seamus Kilgannon and local businessman Finbarr Filan.

Both have previously contested local election in 2024 but were unsuccessful.

The vacancy has arisen due to the departure of former Fianna Fail Cllr Tom MacSharry who resigned in recent weeks as he is set to be appointed District Court Judge.

The convention is getting underway at Sligo Park at 8pm
