There are fears a reduction in the VAT rate for various sectors is too little too late for many businesses in the North West.

The rate of VAT for food, catering and hairdressing services has now fallen from 13.5 to nine per cent, with the measure aimed at supporting businesses in services sectors which are facing increased cost pressures.

It's hoped the move will boost employment and reduce costs for customers.

But local publican and Manorhamilton Cllr Felim Gurn says it took the Government 18 months to finally act and that many local businesses have shut their doors during that time frame:
