There are fears the National student accommodation strategy will do little to solve the crisis in Sligo. 

The strategy, launched by Minister James Lawless earlier this week aims to deliver 42,000 new student beds by 2035.

It measures allowing private operators to enter into 'nomination agreements' with universities - this would enable students to be nominated for housing on a fixed term basis.

250 million euro will be invested in the initiative by 2030.
But Speaking to ocean FM Cllr Ann Higgins says that unfortunately it falls far short of what is really needed:
