There are fears a lot of Sligo families will be excluded social housing unless there is change in the threshold. 

It's estimated over 1600 people are currently on the social housing waiting list in Sligo. 

The current threshold for a family is 36 thousand euro and 30 thousand for a single person. 

Meanwhile new research from PTSB this week shows sentiment towards the housing market remains negative, with 72 per cent expressing concern about the current situation.

Local Cllr Michael Clarke says the threshold needs to change in line with other societal factors:
