Serious concern has been raised for households across the North West as they face imminent electricity price hikes.

Bills for Electric Ireland customers are set to increase from July 1st.

Average electricity bills will go up 8 per cent and gas bills will rise by 7 point 7 per cent.

That works out at an annual increase of 138 euro for electricity and 116 euro for gas.

Deputy Mayor of the Sligo Borough and Sinn Fein Cllr Arthur Gibbons has once again called on the Government to introduce an energy price cap:
