There are escalating safety concerns for those using a GAA club in south Sligo.

The entrance and exit of Nace O'Dowd Park, home to Coolaney/Mullinabreena GAA club are located on the N17.

The concerns extend across around 950 metres of roadway, where there are six separate exits serving the GAA grounds and neighbouring properties.

Despite this, the TII has indicated it has no plans to install any traffic calming measures there. 

Cathaoirleach of Sligo County Council and Fine Gael Cllr Dara Mulvey says until such time the N17 is properly upgraded, something needs to be implemented in the area as a matter of urgency:
