A Donegal TD has accused the Government of kicking the can further down the road with fuel excise cuts.

The supports, announced in the wake of the nationwide fuel protests, were due to be phased out on a monthly basis, but the Government now says that won't go ahead in September or October.

The Taoiseach, Tanaiste and Roads Minister agreed the decision this morning, and will look for cabinet approval next week.

Speaking to Ocean FM news this afternoon, Sinn Feins Finance Spokesperson Pearse Doherty says cuts should never be introduced while prices at the pumps remain high:
