Challenges with the HAP scheme in Sligo continues. 

Over three days surveyed in December, Sligo and Portlaoise were found to have the lowest number of properties available to rent under the scheme nationwide. 

HAP supports people with long-term housing needs who qualify for social housing, allowing them to rent in the private market while receiving support. 

Local authorities pay landlords directly, while tenants pay a "rent contribution" to the council based on their income. 

Mayor of the Sligo Borough, Cllr Gino O'Boyle isnt surprised at the findings and believes the only answer is more social housing:
