It’s thought there’s not enough events being held at Queen Maeve Square.

While a number of gigs and other events have been planned for the year ahead, there’s concern that the activity level isn’t where it should be.

Previously Stephen Street car park, the square opened in May 2024 and has been regarded as a huge success.

The facility also currently lacks a temporary roof structure and it’s felt locally that if this was installed it would pave the way for events to be held there all year round.

Fine Gael Cllr Thomas Walsh believes it’s time to capitalise on that success and that a strategic plan needs to be developed for the amenity:
