A number of suitable buildings in Sligo are set to be explored with a view towards providing a dedicated modern boxing training facility.

Currently there is no such space available in Sligo despite a big uptake in boxing locally. 

Such a building would accommodate the various boxing clubs across the county. 

The call comes in light of sporting icon Katie Taylors visit to Sligo earlier this week. 

Labour Cllr Anne Higgins says it's never been more important that local members are provided with a space to train and socialise:
