There's an onus on people across the North West to be prepared for future weather events.

That's according to the Cathoirleach of the Ballymote Tubbercurry MD and Fianna Fail Cllr Barry Gallagher who has been reacting to the 'Be Emergency Ready campaign'.

Launching today, it's encouraging households across the country to prepare for emergencies and periods of disruption.

As part of the campaign, every household in Ireland will receive a dedicated emergency preparedness booklet from the end of September.

The strategy follows the fallout from Storm Éowyn in January 2025 which caused widespread disruption across this region.

Cllr Gallagher says households need to take on a certain level of responsibility:
