The HSE has reiterated it is committed to providing access to as many medicines as possible, in as timely a fashion as possible.

It comes as a campaign for urgent access to a life-changing Duchenne muscular dystrophy drug to nine year old Aaron Langan from south Donegal continues. 

An application from a pharmaceutical company to provide givinostat to the Republic of Ireland remains under consideration with the HSE and that engagement is ongoing.

The HSE has further stated it cannot make any comment on possible outcomes from the ongoing process.

Speaking in the Seanad, Fine Gael Senator Manus Boyle says the delay is unacceptable:
