There's said to be an alarming increase in the number of notices of termination being issued by landlords in the North West.

Young mothers and families in County Leitrim are among those who have been told in recent days they must leave their rented premises.

While just before Christmas, several elderly and disabled people living in a retirement home in Enniscrone were served with eviction notices.

Speaking in the Seanad, Labour Senator Nessa Cosgrove believes homelessness has become normalised and there doesn't seem to be a sense of urgency from the Government to deal with the issue:
