Pupils and staff of Gaelscoil Chnoc na Ré return for another school term today, with no change to their accommodation. 

The Gaelscoil, founded in 1996, caters for more than 200 students on the site of St Mary's GAA Club and it is the only Gaelscoil in the county.

While efforts have been ongoing to get a new school building project off the ground, it has faced numerous setbacks. 

The Education Minister visited the school in May where commitments were given to prioritise the project. 

It's currently at the final planning stage before moving to tender and construction.

There has been some communication over the summer between the school and the Department of Education but overall progress is said to be slow. 

Principal Liz Ni Searraigh and local parent Olivia McCloat spoke to Ocean FM News ahead of the new term:
