Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow High Temperature Warning for the North West from noon on Wednesday until 6am Friday.

Temperatures could exceed 27°C, with warm nights staying above 15°C.

People are being warned of heat stress, difficult sleeping conditions, and an increased risk of forest fires and drought.

Extra care is also being urged around beaches, lakes and waterways as more people head outdoors during the hot spell
