With temperatures soaring across the North West, water safety experts are urging people to take extra care at beaches, rivers and lakes.

 

Met Eireann are forecasting that any mist or fog patches will clear early on to leave another warm or hot day and it'll be dry and sunny for most.

 

It'll just be a little cloudy for a time in the Northwest and during the afternoon there's the outside chance of an isolated shower.

 

Highest temperatures will range from 23 to 30 degrees.

 

 

Water Safety Ireland says cold water shock remains the biggest killer - warning that even in hot weather, Irish waters remain dangerously cold beneath the surface.

 

Deputy CEO Roger Sweeney says jumping in can cause the body to go into shock within seconds.
