The sod has been officially turned for the construction of a new community centre in the village of Kilglass in Co. Sligo.

This project is to receive funding of over €1.2m from the Department of Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht under the Community Centre Investment Fund.

The fund provides investment for improvement and refurbishment of community centres, as well as the development of new centres where such a need is identified.

Since 2022, over €111 million has been provided under the fund and includes over €6.1 million for 50 projects in Co. Sligo.
