It’s emerged a number of residents in Nazareth Village in Sligo are facing major rent hikes.

 

The revelations have sent shockwaves throughout the local community as those set to be impacted are said to be elderly, vulnerable and unable to afford the increase.

 

Residents were notified in recent days and it’s understood the reason for the proposed hike is for upkeep costs on site.

 

Mayor of the Sligo Borough and People before Profit Cllr Gino O’Boyle says the move cannot be allowed to proceed and is calling for the Residential Tenancies Board to intervene:
