The Mental Health Commission has opened a six-week public consultation this morning to inform its development of Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services.

 

 

It wants to hear from children going through the system along with their families to ensure they receive high-quality, rights-based care.

 

The consultation process takes place as services for Children and Young People in the North West are believed to be under increasing pressure.

 

It was recently claimed that referral levels are rising for the specialist service in the region, while the number of children being accepted is subsequently dropping.

 

Figures from the HSE earlier this year confirmed that, 229 children and young people across region are on a waiting list for initial assessment with CAMHS.
