Motion on Garvaghy Road to be discussed at Local Authority meeting in Sligo

 

 

An emergency motion is to be brought forward to Mondays sitting of Sligo County Council amid heighted tensions on the Garvaghy Road.

 

The motion will seek the support of the local authority for residents on the Garvaghy Road over a contentious Orange Order march in Portadown.

 

Protestors are continuing to try and stop members marching down the mainly nationalist Garvaghy Road for the first time in nearly 30 years.

 

Sinn Fein Cllr Arthur Gibbons is bringing forward the motion and says it's important for County Councils across the country to show their support for peace to be protected:
