Minister’s intervention welcomed as fuel prices increase

 

A meeting between Enterprise Minister Peter Burke and fuel industry reps yesterday is being welcomed after prices rose at the pumps.

 

 

Fuel companies say they’ll cooperate with the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission investigation into fuel pricing.

 

Concern has been raised locally by members of the public with prices rising sharply over the course of the last week.

 

Minister of state Marian Harkin yesterday outlined how the prices increases are being implemented not by the filling station owners in the North West but by suppliers.

 

The Sligo based minister also outlined how some filling stations locally were running low on reserves with trucks being turned away from Depots in Belfast.

 

 

 

 

Yesterday’s meeting was held after claims of price gouging due to the conflict in Iran.
