A Sligo Councillor has challenged the government to place a greater emphasis on the North West when it comes to the provision of student accommodation.

 

The comments from Cllr Arthur Gibbons come as the   Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science, James Lawless TD, confirmed his approval for Trinity College Dublin's Dartry Student Accommodation project to proceed to tender.

 

The development will provide an additional 358 additional student beds.

 

The Sinn Fein Councillor says the Student accommodation is a nationwide issue and Facilities such as the ATU in the North West must be supported with extra student exclusive accommodation
