Industrial action is set to disrupt services at Galway University Hospital which is a member of the Salota Hospital Group.

 

A number of planned cardiac surgeries have been cancelled as perfusionists begin industrial action at five hospitals in Dublin, Cork and Galway.

 

The 24-hour strike is over a pay dispute with the HSE.

 

 

 

Niall Shanahan from the Fórsa Trade Union says the action follows the HSE's refusal to implement a Labour Court recommendation aimed at restoring a long-standing pay link between perfusionists and medical scientists.
