A temporary bathing water advisory remains in place at Enniscrone Pier following an incident at a Uisce Éireann pumping station.

Sligo County Council and the HSE say the notice is a precautionary measure while water quality tests are carried out.

Cllr Joe Queenan urging swimmers to follow the advice in place for now, saying safety must come first as warm weather brings more people to the pier and coastline.

Speaking to Ocean FM News, Cllr Joe Queenan said the incident was a minor discharge and he hopes the advisory can be lifted within the next 24 hours if results are satisfactory.
