A Sligo Leitrim TD says recent remarks from the Justice Minster directed at protesting farmers in the Bord Bia Headquarters will only antagonise them and lead to the their protests escalating.

 

Minister Jim O Callaghan said farmers were wrong to call for Larry Murrin to step down as chair of Bord Bia.

 

Last night the Dáil voted to support Mr Murrin to stay on in the role.

 

Sinn Féin last week had proposed a motion calling on Mr Murrin to be removed from his position.
