A Leitrim Councillor has expressed the hope that the new minister with responsibility for forestry will be easier to work with and more approachable than his predecessor.

Councillor Gary Prior has welcomed the appointment of Niall Collins TD as the new Minister of State with responsibility for Forestry.

Minister Collins succeeds Michael Healy Rae who partied ways with the government during the fuel protests earlier this year.

The Ballinamore MD elected representative says he was left disappointed by the lack of action of Minister Healy Rael in addressing the damage caused by storms in County Leitrim.

He feels that Minister Collins will be more approachable
