A Leitrim Councillor has called on as many people as possible to joint community alert schemes in an effort to prevent the theft of home heating oil.

It's understood that heating oil was stolen recently in the Drumshanbo/Drumcong area of County Leitrim.

Local Councillor Brendan Barry says the rising oil prices have left many people worried that their home heating oil will be targeted.
