A Leitrim Councillor has expressed his confidence that an extra property tax on home owners who build modular homes in their back garden will not discourage people from availing of the scheme.

 

 

The proposal to grant planning exemptions for modular homes of up to 45sq/m in back gardens was brought to the Cabinet last month as part of a government bid to help ease the housing crisis.

 

Kinlough based Councillor Justin Warnock was one of the first to put forward the proposal as way of addressing the lack of housing in the North West.

 

He says talk of property taxes should have been held off until the full details of the scheme were outlined:
