A Leitrim elected representative says people should make up their own minds where there want to purchase fuel and groceries and not be influenced by WhatsApp messages.

 

Fine Gael Councillor Enda McGloin was reacting after a campaign on WhatApp messaging called on the public to boycott filling stations that have not reduced their pries after the government excise cuts were implemented earlier this week.

 

The message called on the public to only purchase essential fuel at these stations and nothing else.

 

Those behind the campaign say it will teach garages a lesson on price gouging.
