A Leitrim Councillor wants the Local Authority in Sligo to scrap the name, ‘The Devil's Chimney’ when it comes to referring to the spectacular waterfall on the Leitrim-Sligo boundary in the Glencar Valley.

 

 

Cllr James Gilmartin is insisting that the correct and historic Irish translation of “Stream in the Face of the Height,” be used instead to promote the popular tourism location.

 

The Independent Councillor says “The Devil's Chimney” has no historical connection to the area and was introduced without public consultation.
