A Leitrim Councillor is warning that transferring the responsibility for the collection of derelict property from Local Authorities to Revenue may not necessarily lead to more revenue being gathered.

 

Cllr Enda McGloin made the comments after it emerged that the Local Authorities in Donegal and Leitrim were among 11 County Councils that failed to collect a sing cent in derelict property tax in 2024.

 

They were among 11 councils that failed to collect any revenue.

 

The Fine Gael Councillor says that at present there is frustration with the current legalisation and that it need to be overhauled.
