A Local Agricultural Contractor is urging the government to give care consideration to the plight of hauliers and contractors before restoring fuel excise duties by the end of the year.

 

North Leitrim based Shane O Hara made the comments as Fuels for Ireland are set for a meeting at the Department of Finance today, amid concerns over rising costs and the planed return of excise duty.

 

Oil prices surged during the recent conflict in the Middle East, driving up the cost of petrol, diesel and home heating oil, before falling back after a ceasefire was agreed.
