EU fisheries ministers are gathering in County Cork today to discuss the future of the industry.

 

 

Generational renewal will be the priority at talks in City Hall, as member states aim to get younger people involved in the sector.

 

 

The issue is very prevalent in the North West after the loss of one third of Ireland's national fish quota.

 

Fish stocks have reduced dramatically in the Atlantic Ocean because of the overfishing, principally by Norway, Iceland and the Faroe Islands.
