New figures show Sligo town Garda Station has seen the largest decrease of frontline Gardai in the North West.

The data compiled by the Irish independent shows a drop of right Gardaí in Sligo town since 2016.

Ballyshannon and Bundoran Garda Stations both saw a decrease of four Gardaí however, Manorhamilton saw a rise of six.

Frontline Gardaí levels in the country have fallen by nearly 600 in the last six years.

Speaking to Ocean Fm Sinn Féin Cllr Arthur Gibbons says the government are burying their head in the sand .
