The Housing Minister is being urged to engage with Uisce Éireann to review their notification procedures in the wake of major disruption in Killybegs this week.

 

Older residents were said to be left in a vulnerable position this week while farmers were left without a water supply for animals after works began in the area without warning.

 

While it has been acknowledged locally that the reservoir cleaning works were necessary, the lack of clear advance communication from Uisce Éireann was said to be simply not good enough.

 

Speaking in the Seanad, Fine Gael Senator Manus Boyle says every effort must be made to ensure this does not happen again.
