 

 

A Donegal Councillor is warning that the delivery of long made promises in relation to flooding concerns would need to be delivered before the general public would buy into a new flooding levy.

 

 

Insurance Ireland is proposing a charge of €24 per insured household which would be placed into a "sustainable flood insurance fund" to address the country’s flood insurance protection gap.

 

Around one in 20 properties currently struggle to obtain flood cover according to Central Bank of Ireland research.

 

 

It suggests a Sustainable Flood Insurance Fund designed to ensure households in higher-risk areas can access flood insurance where cover would otherwise be unavailable.
